Amazon Super Saver Snooper

I just release my newest Greasemonkey script: Amazon Super Saver Snooper. If you’re cheap like me, you always go for the free Super Saver shipping at Amazon.com (free shipping on orders over $25). It gets even better when you’ve got Amazon Prime (I got a 3-month free trial). And if you’re like me, you hate having to sift through the search results to find the items that are eligible for Super Saver. Well, that task has been alleviated by the power of Firefox and Greasemonkey. Just install my little script, and all the search results that are eligible for Prime / Super Saver will light up.

A screenshot of the script in action.

Another cool bit is that the script will update the prices shown in the search to the lowest price available from a Super Saver-eligible source. That way you don’t get suckered into looking at cheap items you’ll have to pay shipping on.

The script turned out to be pretty easy to write - it just calls the Amazon E-Commerce Web Service. I’m hoping to do some more cool stuff with that service in the future. If you’re into customizing Amazon don’t forget about my Collapsible Amazon script, too. And feel free to check out the rest of my scripts while you’re at it.

I installed Foxfire, works fine. I installed Greasemonkey. I’m in Foxfire, I’m in greasemonkey, I see your Super Saver Shipping script but I don’t have an option offering to install the script. My “tools”has javascript Console where you indicate “install script” should be, and when I right click on the script itself, again, no option to install. suggestion?

Wait! It’s installed! But how do I use it when I got to amazon.com?

  3. brh Says:

It’s easy, it just works automatically whenever you do a search on amazon.com. I should note I don’t have it working for any of the other Amazon sites like .co.uk or .co.jp.

Is the script broken now. I have greasemonkey 0.6.5 installed…used to work and now does not work….do you know of it? Please email me.

  6. brh Says:

It’s still working for me in 0.6.5… make sure you have the most recent version of the script.

Hi. really weird. I installed greasemonkey then your script. just like your instructions. To test it I did the same search in the example. Worked fine. I searched for cameras, didn’t work. Then I did the same “example” search which worked the very first time - doesn’t work anymore. All this wihtin a few minutes. I have since uninstalled and reinstalled both components, cannot get it to work anymore. Can you help me? Jeff

More info. If I enter http://www.amazon.com which takes me to their homepage and then click the Amazon.com Prime tab and then do a search, it works. Can you make it start from the main page?

  9. brh Says:

Looks like they’ve rolled out a new version of the main search. I’ll fix it in the morning.

  10. brh Says:

Actually, the fix was pretty simple. Just a new search URL. Grab the new copy and it’ll work.

  11. Jeff Says:

    Thanks alot. Works perfectly.
