Greasemonkey Scripts
Greasemonkey is an extension for the wonderful Firefox browser. It allows you to change the behavior of the websites you visit. I just got started writing some scripts, and I'll put them here as they're completed. Greasemonkey is a great tool for me to deal with annoyances on the web, as well as to improve my favorite sites.
Installing Scripts
- Make sure you have the latest Greasemonkey installed.
- Click on the script.
- Select "Install" from the yellow bar that shows up.
Scripts
- Amazon Super Saver Snooper - If you use Amazon Prime, or just like to have the free Super Saver shipping, this script is for you. It will highlight the items on Amazon search results pages if they can be shipped via free Super Saver / Amazon Prime. The script will also update the price of the item to the lowest price that still qualifies for free shipping. Check out an example screenshot.
- Collapsible Amazon - Amazon is a wonderful site, but sometimes the sheer amount of information on the product pages can be overwhelming. With this script, you can collapse most of the major sections of the product pages, and they'll stay collapsed - even on different products! Check out an example screenshot.
- No Xbox Live Arcade Demos - This simple script removes the Xbox Live Arcade demos from your Achivements Summary page on Xbox.com. It'll also remove them from the number of games you've played, and remove their score from your total Gamerscore ceiling. One caveat: this will remove any arcade game where you have no gamer points, so newly-bought games may still get removed. As a bonus, it also removes games neither you nor your friend have played from the Compare Achievements page.
- Better Maps - This script will change any MapQuest map (on MapQuest's site, not embedded in another page, unfortunately) or old-style (non-draggable) Yahoo Map into a Google Map. That's because I really don't like MapQuest or Yahoo maps, but lots of websites to them.
- Birthday Pass - This will automatically fill out and submit those annoying age-check forms. For example, the age-check form at http://www.stubbsthezombie.com/. This has recently been updated to cover a lot more of these forms, and to not submit the form automatically if it's not sure it's an age gate.
- RIAA Radar - Originally from the actual RIAA Radar site, I've touched up the script to actually work, as well as being more efficient. RIAA Radar is a script that attaches a little graphic to Amazon product pages to tell you if the CD you’re looking at was released by an RIAA label, so that you can make intelligent decisions regarding who you give your money to. Check out an example screenshot. It works with the new Amazon MP3 Downloads store now.
